We Help Change Lives
Research has demonstrated that the key years for a young woman or young man to be able to escape the "street culture" that can drag down children even of the most caring families, occur well before high school. Many would never be prepared for a good high school education unless an intervention occurs at the age at which they enter Grade Six. The Saint Monica Scholars and Saint Augustine Scholars programs are intended to serve young people whose families would otherwise not have the possibility of providing the stable educational environment and personal attention offered in a single gender, small class setting. Located in Buffalo's poorest neighborhoods, the youngsters served are African-American, Latino and African refugee children. Students benefit from the generosity of the BISON Fund, Reach Out to Africa, CHAMPS program sponsored by the Catholic Health System & Niagara University, and the POLARIS Fund, as well as individual benefactors and foundations.

Catholic Central School is supported by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo and administered by Jesuits of the New York Province. The Oblate Sisters of Providence are engaged in the classroom, religious education and administration along with the most capable lay persons who are concerned for the academic, spiritual, physical and social development of each student.

Admissions Information
The willingness of the parent or guardian along with the student to completely embrace the program is an essential criterion for entrance. Families of the prospective student must also submit an application packet and participate in an interview. Financial aid is available to qualified students. In addition, the BISON Fund awards scholarships to families within the City of Buffalo who attend non-public elementary schools. The scholarships are based on financial need and are awarded under a lottery system.

Students of all faiths and backgrounds are most welcome.
